Despite Losing Bedworth remain second.
On a very wet miserable night, with the ball skidding, stuck in mud and some times not bouncing, both teams created no chances for the first 15 mins. Trying to get to grips with the conditions, only 1 corner each in the first 25 mins, but to their credit both teams trying to play good football.
The nearest we got then was a break down the right,
good cross, a turn and a shot on target by Mark Withers,
who hits the bar. Another attack saw Alex Platt shoot
and a very good save from the keeper at full stretch
pushes it for a corner. On the counter they broke down
our left, a good cross a shot on the turn by their forward
hit the foot of our post in the last minutes of the
first half.
Half Time 0 - 0
From the kick off it was all Bedworth possession, Alex Platt in the box turned and his shot hit the post. Two good saves from their keeper one pushed on to the bar, then one cleared. We then put the ball in the net, but it was disallowed for offside. The game then opened up with end to end play. Then after about 20 mins after lots of Bedworth pressure, they broke down the middle some good passing and their forward scored. 0-1.
Then a good through ball gets Alex through, one on
one with their keeper but the ball hits the foot of
the post and is cleared. Bedworth seemed at times to
be camped in their half but couldn’t find a way
through. Ringing in the changes, Sam Bircher on for
Arron Troop and Kyle Baxter on for Aron Formaston.
Alex Platt on the edge of the box beats 3 men a good
shot, well saved.
Then as Bedworth pushed on for the equalizer, the sucker
punch, a quick ball over the top of our defence, forward
runs on to it shoots 0-2.
In the dying minutes Bedworth get a penalty for handball,
Mathew Lee takes it but hits the bar and over like the
game.
On reflection it was just not our night, hit the bar
3 times, hit the post 3 times, scored but offside and
some great goal keeping, all in the wind, the rain and
the mud. Bad luck lads, it was just not to be, overall
we had most of the chances and the play but couldn’t
get the goals.
