Green backs youth had a great start to their Premier Division season
when they entertained Alvechurch at the Oval on a very wet night.
The young Greenbacks were first out the blocks and hit Alvechurch from the off , after only three minutes from a free kick from the left Sam Bircher rose to head home, minutes later a 25 yard shot from Alex Platt brought a fine save from the Church keeper.
Greenbacks were firing on all cylinders Sam Bircher went close, Matthew Lee hit the bar and Arron Troop fired inches wide as the greenbacks show they have what it takes to cut it in the Premier Division chances came but were all missed and at half time the score was still 1-0.
The young guns started the second as they ended the first on the attack with Bircher and Troop having shots blocked, the energetic Platt turning the Alvechurch defence all over the place and fron his fierce shot the keeper spilled the ball for Mark Withers to tap the ball home only for the linesman to flag offside
As the game dragged on the Greenbacks tired a little so changes were made for fresh legs with Matthew Jones replacing Kyle Baxter, Danny Wright on for Mark Withers and Tom Keating on for Arron Troop.
Alvechurch pushed their way back into the game but our defence led by Matty Lee held firm Full Time 1-0 three points well earned and deserved.
