The Greenbacks travelled to Keys Park Hednesford for this FA Youth cup fixture full of confidence following two great performances in the league.

The game started brightly with the greenbacks straight out the blocks attacking down the left and crossing but no-body could get a touch to the ball, as the game progressed it was end to end with Hednesford being a big tall and skillfull side chances came for both sides in the early exchanges but neither side could force their way through.

On nine minutes a greenbacks corner caused a scramble in the home defence and was cleared, three minutes later a Hednesford shot beat Kevin Tobin but Jack Coulton cleared off the line a minute later a greens free kick cannons off the wall on out for a corner Hednesford came again but shot tamely wide
The breakthrough came on 17 minutes when an Alex Platt corner found Mark Withers in the six yard box and he hammered home, the game was swinging towards the greenbacks a chance fell to Platt but his shot was well saved for a corner Hednesford counter attacked but again could not find their way through with the game going end to end a overhead kick from Platt hit the bar after 36 minutes.

The greenbacks were giving the ball away to easy and started playing long ball s which played into the hednesford hands and pressured the greens and justly got an equaliser when a corner was flicked on the ball falling to their forward and he tapped home.

Half Time 1-1

The second half the Greenbacks started to play better passing football that they are known for and were on top causing havoc in the Hednesford box with their keeper saving well from Troop, Platt Carey and Bircher , then on the break Hednesford gained a corner after a great save from Tobin from the corner a goal mouth scramble saw a Pitman forward poke the ball home.

On 62 minutes Joshua Ruff replaced Kyle Baxter who had run himself out giving us fresh legs and a bit more mobility as chances came and fell On 73 minutes Tom Keating replace the industrious Mark Withers and Sam Bircher moved out left and Aron Troop right and made an immediate impact forcing the Hednesford defence back chances were again being created but good defending kept us at bay then on 78 minutes keating found himself with the ball a yard outside the box twisting and turning he beat two defenders and hit a screaming shot from the edge of the box which flew into the net.

Again it was end to end in the last 12 minutes on 88 minutes Tobin made a great save from six yards pushing the ball for a corner to keep the Greenbacks in it from this corner to the back post a Hednesford forward head goalbound and Aron Troop with a natrual reaction handled the ball with only one result a red card and a penalty.  Kevin Tobin saved the penalty only to see the rebound pokes in on 89 minutes.

A great game which no one deserved to lose and both sides a credit to their clubs we feel gutted an received great comments from our hosts.
