United recorded their first clean sheet of the current season, with this goalless result at Amblecote against Midland Alliance side Causeway United in the FA Cup 1st qualifying round, manager Liam O`Neill was forced to make changes from last week`s game with Rothwell due to injuries, missing were skipper Paddy Connolly, Sam Shilton, Jason Moore, but added to the team was new signing Matt Brown from neighbours Atherstone United.

Bedworth attacked the church end from the kick off and soon won themselves a corner which was duly cleared, this was followed by a Jamie Petty free kick after a hand ball was given against the Blues Sam Beasley, but again the danger was soon cleared by the home defence.

Causeway had a decent spell mid way through the first half but could not break down a sturdy Bedworth defence, the Greenbacks should have taken the lead on twenty five minutes a run and shot by Matty Blair was only half saved by keeper Joe Skeldon the rebound off his body fell to Ashley Robinson who failed to take advantage of the situation.

Almost on half time Greens keeper Andy Kemp made a rare first half save from Beasley, giving the Blues a late corner which was cleared as the referee blew to end the first period.

Half Time 0 - 0

From the restart Causeways Stuart How went close has his twenty yard shot flew over the Bedworth cross bar, at the opposite end the visitors had their moments, a fine flowing move between Blair, Petty, was ended by Skeldon following a Nick Mowl twenty five yard shot, just after the hour a mistake by Mowl gave Matt Gardner a chance to open the scoring but to a relieved Mowl his attempt was high over Kemp's cross bar.

Seven minutes from time Danny Jones put through fellow substitute Duncan Willetts who only had Kemp to beat but whilst deciding which foot to use missed his chance and somehow the beckoning open goal, five minutes from time Kemp pulled off the save of the match from Ben Stretton, in a game of few chances for both sides and where the two keepers were rarely troubled, at the end of the day this was probably a fair result.

This will gives us a Tuesday Evening replay with a 7-45 kick off and by then the victors will know who they will be facing in the next round of the most famous cup competition in the world (apologies Mr Cappello)
