Match Report
Bedworth United 1 Woodford United 1
5th April 2008
THIS game had little importance for Bedworth in terms of picking up valuable points but manager Liam O'Neill will still be left disappointed with a draw.

The Greenbacks trailed at the break to a Paul Lamb penalty but youngster Ben Cole equalised early in the second period.

Bedworth should have gone on and won the game but from that point but is wasn't to be.

O'Neill had four youth teamers in his squad on Saturday and if that is a sign of things to come, then the future could be bright.

Woodford had a lot of half chances early on but Cole should have opened the scoring at the other end, only to volley wide with keeper David Thornton well out of position.

Cole then turned well on the edge of the area and took aim for the bottom corner, but his strike was deflected a yard wide.

Instead the hosts fell behind, Lamb scoring from the spot after defender Danny Pitham was adjudged to have handled in the area.

United were level six minutes into the second half. Simeon Williams beat Thornton in a challenge and Cole was on hand to tuck away the loose ball.

Bedworth went for the win and thought they'd got a penalty on 83 minutes when Jerry Moss seemed to handle in the area, but appeals for a spot-kick were waved away.

United keeper Andrew Kemp denied Lee Worrall from close range late on but the action returned to the other end where youngster Sam Bircher nearly won it for the hosts, only for his fierce strike to be blocked.

Bedworth: Kemp, Moran, Jephcott, Pitham, Thackeray, Lazarus, Cole (Bircher, 77), Twigger, (L) Williams, Fox ((J) Williams, 46), (S) Williams
